On The Bum was born out of a desire to not give into a society that puts productivity and internet content creation above the god-given right to Go On The Bum. In a world where the human experience is systematically flattened, this blog is about searching for adventures, human connection and authenticity in between the cracks of suburbia.
A Blog? That’s so 2006!

Exactly!
Unlike social media platforms this blog is free from advertisements and does not use intermittent reinforcement to drive up engagement. It’s simply here for you to read, at your own pace, whenever you like. After all, a life On The Bum should not end where the internet begins.
I have a few goals with this blog. For me, I hope this blog will help me keep track of my journeys and teach me how to tell a good story. For my friends and family, especially those far away, I hope it can be a travel report. And for any stranger who somehow stumbled across this little corner of the internet, I hope it can be an inspiration to anyone who feels locked in that golden cage of U.S. consumer society. If you remember the internet of old, or you are pining for something you never got to experience, then maybe this blog can be one of your oases to retreat to.
By the way -and I am sad I have to specify this… All of the contents of this website were made by a human. 100% clanker free. (In exceptional cases, it will be marked. I am thinking something along the lines of !!! CLANKER ALERT !!!). And also, (still sad I have to say this) none of this material may be used to train LLMs or any other form of AI model.
